When witches convene, laughter ensues

Do you love a good story? I mean who doesn’t?

Here goes, last summer I participated in an evening market in downtown Raleigh, NC and it was hot and sweltering but I made a lifelong customer and friend through Marissa, she was shopping with her family and happened upon my booth. We immediately connected.

Fast forward to present day and Marissa reaches out to me in September to see if I’d be interested in coming to her home to show my jewelry and read tarot to her friends for a Witches Party! Of course I said yes. And let me tell you, it was so much fun. Marissa is an excellent host, her home is beautiful and her friends are a pure delight. And my Mom even joined me (secretly she didn’t want me driving home late at night).

It was a beautiful experience to read tarot and share our stories. It felt invigorating to me to read and investigate further into the issues her friends needed more clarity.

Here are some of the photos we snapped of the party. I love all the fantastic and inventive costumes the attendees wore.

Halloween spirit in full effect! Marissa has such a big heart and it was such an honor to share my jewelry in her home.

The wisdom tarot holds comes back to you. You shuffle the cards and your energy is infused. Reading the cards we’re taken on a journey through images and symbols.

I believe in this day and age, we are welcoming witch energy more openly. We are recognizing that there is a little witch in all of us. We are naturally intuitive healers, all of us. The witch reminds us of that, to embrace our inherent healing and magical powers.

Are You a Bourbon Bride?

That is to say, are you a nontraditional bride? These days weddings have completely changed, they aren’t the usual church, white wedding gown and country club wedding.

Ceremonies nowadays can take place anywhere, with a bride and groom chucking the norm and doing it their own way. And I totally love that! My wedding was a bit different, we got married outside of our favorite restaurant and I wore pink. I’ve had friends get married at an artist retreat outside, in gardens, at science museums and wear purple. Who cares whats traditional when you can truly make your wedding day unique and different?

Thus I’m super happy to have been accepted into the Bourbon Bridal show happening Sunday, January 20th in Durham at the Cookery. I participated in the show two years ago and I had so much fun. The vendors at the Bourbon Bride Bridal show cater to couples that want the unusual, people that come from all backgrounds. There were vintage interior designers offering a special way to decorate the event, floral designers that create super cool floral arrangements and more.

Speaking of nontraditional weddings, how about a bridal photoshoot at a cemetery?! For my first bridal photoshoot we shot it at a local cemetery and it gave our shoot an ethereal and heavenly quality. I mean when you get down to it, committing your life to one partner is beyond this world, so why not make it extra special? To make a sacred vow that is eternal sorta relates to the morbid beauty of being buried together.

Okay back to the beauty of life, I’ve created custom designs for a variety of couples and brides. As a result of Bourbon Bride I met Brenna and she had me custom create a set of earrings, necklace and ring for her wedding day. She sent me a set of gorgeous genuine London topaz stones her father mined and had polished. Don’t they look stunning set in the owl talons?

The Power of Three

Just as there has been much studied about color therapy and crystal healing there is also quite a bit of research and studies on numerology.  As they say, math is the universal language.  And one of my favorite numbers is three.  Especially when it comes to design and jewelry pieces. 

This post will cover two things - my special Mother's Day offers as well as some information on the number three.  As you can imagine, this is a special Mother's day for me because it'll be my first celebrating as a mother which is why I'm very excited to announce THREE special Mothers Day offers to you!

But before I get into the offers, let's discuss why there is power in threes.  First of all for religious purposes, three is a divine number.  It represents the trinity - regardless of what religion you practice there is the mind, body and soul or father, son and holy ghost along with light, energy and mass.  The triangle touches upon this symmetry of threes - it is a statement about relationship and balance.  Three remembers the one.  For example the Borromean Rings, named for the appearance on the crest of the Borromeo family of the Italian Renaissance.  It's when three rings are interlocked and when you gaze upon them it appears as though each ring is interconnected to the other and not separate from itself.  It takes all three interlocking simultaneously to become unified. 

As you can see three has a magic and symmetry to it, which is why I love using it in my jewelry designs.  Which leads me to my three special Mother's Day offers!

Trunk Show in Portland

I'm super thrilled that I'll be in Portland at the end of this month.  Ever since the show, Portlandia, and one of my oldest friends moving to Portland, I've been dying to visit!

Well, the opportunity came up for me to visit my friend and do a trunk show at one of my favorite stocktists: Altar Boutique. 

Altar carries merchandise some of my favorite makers: Skullgarden, Wolf Child and Vava Lingerie.  Speaking of, Vava Lingerie will be co-hosting the trunk show with me.  So it's a match made in handmade heaven!
